‘Pehla Pyar 2026’ Youth Retreat Inspires Spiritual Renewal in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, June 26, 2026: More than 170 young Catholics gathered in Jalandhar for “Pehla Pyar 2026,” a four-day youth retreat that sought to deepen participants’ relationship with Christ and strengthen their commitment to living the Gospel.

Held from June 17 to 20 at St. Joseph Boys School, the retreat brought together youth from different communities for a programme centred on prayer, worship, reflection and fellowship. The event offered participants an opportunity to reconnect with their faith through Eucharistic celebrations, Adoration, praise and worship sessions, and moments of personal spiritual reflection.

The retreat’s theme, “First Love,” encouraged young people to rediscover their relationship with Jesus and renew their spiritual lives amid the challenges of contemporary society. Throughout the four days, the atmosphere was marked by enthusiasm, devotion and a strong sense of community.

In addition to prayer sessions, participants took part in group discussions, faith-sharing activities and interactive programmes designed to foster friendship, mutual support and spiritual growth. Organisers noted that many young people experienced a renewed sense of purpose, confidence and inner peace through the retreat.

A highlight of the gathering was the Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Jose Sebastian, who encouraged the youth to become authentic witnesses of Christ in their daily lives. In his message, he urged participants to carry the light of faith into their families, parishes and wider communities, becoming agents of hope and transformation.

Coordinator Anuradha Sehgal expressed gratitude to the Jesus Youth National Team, as well as the priests, religious sisters, volunteers and benefactors whose support and prayers contributed to the success of the event.

As the retreat concluded, participants departed with a renewed commitment to deepen their faith and live out Christian values with courage and conviction. Organisers expressed hope that the spiritual fruits of “Pehla Pyar 2026” would continue to inspire the young people long after the gathering ended.
