Shivamogga, April 16, 2026: In a concerted effort to foster faith formation and personal growth among young Catholics, the Diocese of Shivamogga organised the five-day residential Jeevamratha Camp 2026, bringing together over a hundred adolescents for a structured journey of spiritual and intellectual enrichment.
Held at the Sannidhi Pastoral Centre from April 11 to 15, the camp saw the participation of 111 Class 9 students, accompanied by nine women religious and two brothers. The programme was designed to help young people deepen their understanding of the Church while encouraging a reflective and responsible approach to their faith.
The camp was inaugurated by Fr. Stany D’Souza, Delegate of the Apostolic Administrator, who called on the participants to embrace life with enthusiasm and a deep reverence for God. His inaugural address set the spiritual tone for the camp, which explored themes such as God’s plan of salvation, the nature and structure of the Church, liturgy, Marian devotion, family values, and vocational discernment.
A team of experienced resource persons facilitated the sessions, combining theological insights with interactive learning methods. The daily schedule integrated moments of prayer, meditation, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist with engaging activities including group discussions, Bible quizzes, outdoor games, and cultural presentations. This holistic approach aimed at nurturing both the spiritual depth and social skills of the participants.
The smooth conduct of the camp was supported by Br. Mario Aranha, Br. Melroy D'Silva, and sisters from various religious congregations, whose involvement ensured active participation and a well-coordinated programme.
The camp concluded with a valedictory ceremony during which certificates were distributed by Fr. D’Souza. Participants expressed that the experience had strengthened their faith and provided clarity in discerning their personal and spiritual paths. The initiative reflects the diocese’s continued commitment to forming informed, engaged, and faith-filled young members of the Church.
