Mumbai , September 15, 2026: The Archdiocesan Office for Environment (AOE), Mumbai, has opened registrations for its Certificate Course for Eco Ambassadors 2026, inviting Catholics and others interested in creation care to explore the ecological crisis from a spiritual, theoretical and practical perspective.
The three-day course aims to equip participants to become ambassadors of transformative change who can contribute to the ecological mission of the Church in the Archdiocese of Bombay. The programme will examine environmental challenges alongside the Catholic understanding of stewardship, sustainable living and responsibility towards creation.
Since its inception, the course has already helped 153 Eco Ambassadors across different batches receive certificates.
The course will be conducted in English over three Sundays in October, with sessions running from 10am to 5pm.
The first two sessions, on 11 and 18 October, will take place at Carmel of St Joseph High School, Malad (West). The final day, on 25 October, will be held at Vinayalaya Retreat House, Andheri (East).
Participants will explore a range of topics, beginning with the major environmental problems facing the world, their human roots, and the interconnected ‘cry of the Earth’ and ‘cry of the poor’.
The course will also examine the Church’s response, including recent Catholic teaching, with particular emphasis on Laudato Si’ and relevant Asian documents.
The programme will move beyond environmental awareness to explore the social, spiritual and ethical dimensions of the ecological crisis.
Sessions on eco-justice will examine the relationship between technology, economics and politics, as well as development, gender and ecology and sustainable lifestyles.
Participants will also reflect on eco-spirituality, considering how Scripture and contemporary insights can shape the way Christians understand God, nature and the human person.
The final sessions will focus on participatory action, including the role of the global Church, parish ecology groups, civil society and community mobilisation.
The course is designed not simply as an academic programme but as a preparation for practical action.
Participants must attend all three days, complete an assignment and undertake a parish or community-level ecological project in November to receive the certificate.
The assignment is due by 23 October, while project reports must be submitted by 30 November.
The organisers hope participants will use their learning to strengthen creation care initiatives in their parishes, communities and deaneries.
The course fee is ₹2,500, inclusive of course fees and hospitality charges. The amount is non-refundable, and participants are required to complete payment before registering online.

The programme is open to those already involved in creation care ministry, people interested in a Catholic perspective on ecological stewardship, and those undergoing seminary or religious formation.
