Yuvajallosh@25 Ignites Faith and Youth Spirit in Vasai

Agashi, May 18, 2026: The silver jubilee edition of Yuvajallosh turned the St. James Church Grounds in Agashi into a vibrant celebration of faith, creativity and youthful enthusiasm as youth from across the diocese gathered to mark 25 years of one of the Diocese of Vasai’s most cherished youth festivals.

Organised by Yuvadarshan in collaboration with the SAJ family of Shirlai, Agashi and Jyoti Parishes, Yuvajallosh 2026 was held from May 3 to May 10, bringing together young people from across the diocese through days of prayer, fellowship, cultural expression and leadership.

The silver jubilee celebrations began with Fine Arts competitions held on April 19 and April 26, drawing participation from more than 1,000 youth from different parishes. Competitions in sketching, painting, poster making, essay writing, poetry, story writing, photography and documentary making offered participants an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents and intellectual creativity.

The official inauguration on May 3 was marked by a solemn procession led by Bishop Thomas D’Souza of Vasai, accompanied by the sacred relics of St. Gonsalo Garcia, St. Carlo Acutis and St. Pier Giorgio Frassati. The Holy Eucharist celebrated by the bishop united youth, clergy, religious and faithful in thanksgiving and prayer, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the festival.

Throughout the celebrations, Yuvajallosh emerged as a dynamic platform for performing arts and cultural engagement. Street plays, one-act plays, Gospel enactments, fashion shows, group singing and dance competitions reflected not only the creativity and discipline of the participants but also their social awareness and faith.

Prayer services, blessings, cultural showcases and felicitations formed an integral part of the programme. A symbolic watering of saplings representing growth and unity formed part of the celebrations.

The presence of priests, bishops, religious leaders, civic dignitaries, political representatives, former members of Yuvadarshan, delegates from the Western Region Youth and National ICYM added significance to the silver jubilee celebration.

Organisers expressed gratitude to the volunteers, organising committees, technical teams, sponsors, donors, parish communities and participants whose collective efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the festival. The active participation of parishes across the vicariate further strengthened the spirit of unity that defined Yuvajallosh 2026.

Special appreciation was extended to Fr. Christopher Vaz, Director of Yuvadarshan, Fr. Bernard Fernandes, Associate Youth Director of Yuvadarshan, parish priests, youth directors of the SAJ parishes, volunteers and sponsors for their dedication and service.

As Yuvajallosh celebrated its silver jubilee milestone, the festival stood as a powerful testimony to faith, teamwork and community spirit while celebrating 25 years of empowering youth and strengthening the spiritual and social fabric of the Diocese of Vasai through creativity, fellowship and active participation.
