Indore, March 22, 2026: In a spiritually enriching initiative during the Lenten season, the Youth and Vocation Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Indore organised a three-day (BYS) Balak Yesu Sangh retreat for young people from March 19 to 21. Centred on the theme, “Come Close to the Cross,” the retreat drew an enthusiastic response from youth across the diocese.
The programme aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of the Cross as the heart of Christian faith, inviting them to reflect on its significance in their personal lives. Through a series of prayerful sessions, reflections, and interactive moments, the retreat created a space for young people to grow in devotion and spiritual awareness.
The sessions were animated by Fr. Selvin and Fr. Naveen, who offered thought-provoking reflections on the meaning and power of the Cross. Their messages encouraged participants to embrace the Cross not merely as a symbol of suffering, but as a source of hope, love, and transformation in their daily Christian journey.
Approximately 140 children and youth from various parishes—including Nandbagh, Pushpanagar, Rangwasa, Betma, Cathedral, Palda, and Sukliya—participated actively in the retreat. The gathering fostered a sense of community and shared faith, as participants engaged in group discussions, personal reflection, and moments of collective prayer.
The retreat forms part of the diocese’s continued pastoral efforts to nurture the faith of young people, especially during the Lenten season, a time marked by prayer, penance, and renewal.
The event was coordinated by Fr. Mahesh Sulya, Director of the Youth and Vocation Commission of the Diocese of Indore, whose efforts ensured a meaningful and well-organised experience for all involved.
