Vellore Diocese Prioritises Clergy Well-being Through Reflective Formation Programme

Alamelarangapuram, April 15, 2026 : In a timely response to the growing pastoral and personal challenges faced by clergy, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vellore has placed priestly well-being at the forefront of its pastoral agenda through a two-day ongoing formation programme held at Sneha Deepam.

Centred on the theme “Psycho-Spiritual Integration: From Burnout to Cherishing,” the initiative brought together diocesan priests in a reflective setting aimed at fostering emotional resilience, spiritual depth, and renewed pastoral commitment. The programme created a safe and prayerful space for participants to explore the psychological and spiritual dimensions of their vocation, encouraging openness, self-awareness, and mutual support.

Animating the sessions, Fr. Charles guided the clergy through processes of inner healing and integration. Through interactive discussions, personal sharing, and structured reflections, priests were helped to identify signs of burnout and rediscover joy and meaning in their ministry.

The programme culminated in a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Ambrose, who called on the clergy to remain deeply rooted in Christ while nurturing emotional balance and spiritual vitality. In his homily, he highlighted the importance of interior renewal as the foundation for effective pastoral service and commended the initiative as both necessary and forward-looking.

The presence of diocesan leadership, including Msgr. M. John Nicholas, Fr. Richard, Fr. N. T. Irudhayaraj, Fr. Jegadhis, and Fr. Lua Thomas, underscored the diocese’s commitment to the ongoing formation and holistic well-being of its clergy.

Set against the serene surroundings of Sneha Deepam, the programme offered priests a valuable opportunity to step away from the demands of daily ministry, fostering fraternity, prayer, and renewal.

By prioritising psycho-spiritual integration, the Vellore diocese reaffirmed its conviction that fruitful pastoral ministry flows from priests who are spiritually grounded, emotionally resilient, and deeply attuned to their vocation.
