Thousands Gather for Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes at Dantoling in Odisha in a Powerful Display of Faith

Dantoling, Odisha, February 13, 2026: Thousands of devotees converged at Dantoling in Odisha on February 11 to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, one of the state’s most prominent Marian gatherings. Marked by solemn liturgical rites and vibrant expressions of devotion, the annual feast once again reaffirmed its place as a major spiritual event in the region.

The Holy Eucharist formed the heart of the celebration, drawing nearly 5,000 faithful from across Odisha. The solemn Mass was presided over by Bishop Sarat Chandra Nayak of the Berhampur Diocese, who served as the chief celebrant. He was joined by Fr. Sanjeev Kumar Nayak, Vicar General of the Berhampur Diocese, along with more than 200 priests. The presence of over 300 religious sisters further added to the prayerful atmosphere.

Recognised as one of the largest Marian feasts in the state, the Dantoling celebration attracts pilgrims from four dioceses — the Berhampur Diocese, the Archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, the Rayagada Diocese, and the Balasore Diocese. The gathering reflected the strong Marian devotion that continues to unite the faithful across diocesan boundaries.

Throughout the day, pilgrims participated in prayers seeking healing, peace, and spiritual renewal. Many entrusted their families and personal intentions to Our Lady of Lourdes, expressing deep confidence in her maternal intercession. Several devotees described the occasion as a moment of grace that strengthened their faith and offered renewed hope amid life’s challenges.

The homily emphasised the virtues of love, humility, and service, encouraging the faithful to model their lives on the teachings of Jesus Christ. Drawing inspiration from the Blessed Virgin Mary, the congregation was urged to deepen their commitment to holiness and foster unity within their communities.

As hymns echoed across the shrine grounds and candles flickered in prayerful silence, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes at Dantoling once again stood as a powerful testimony to enduring faith, communal solidarity, and trust in God’s mercy.
