Hyderabad, March 21, 2026: In a dynamic Lenten outreach blending Scripture, media, and personal witness, the Archdiocese of Hyderabad has been hosting a series of “Lent with The Chosen” encounters across its parishes, drawing strong participation and fostering renewed missionary zeal among the faithful.
Held at multiple centres over the past two weeks, the initiative brought together parishioners—particularly youth—in a shared journey of reflection and evangelisation. The sessions were led by Fr. Raju Alex, Ajin Joseph, and Prasanth Merugu, who combined preaching, testimony, and guided prayer to help participants encounter Christ in a more personal and compelling way.
Beginning on March 8 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, the programme moved across key parishes including St. Anthony’s Church, Mount Carmel Church, Our Lady of Fatima Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, St. Pius X PG College, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, creating a ripple effect of engagement across the archdiocese.
At the heart of the encounters was the use of The Chosen, whose selected scenes were woven into the traditional Lectio Divina method. Scripture passages were prayerfully proclaimed, followed by visual storytelling and reflective inputs, enabling participants to enter more deeply into the Gospel narratives.
Participants, many of them young adults, responded with attentiveness and openness, engaging in moments of silence, sharing, and prayer.
The initiative continues with a scheduled session at Our Lady of Good Health Church on March 25, even as organisers look ahead to expanding the model across more parishes in the coming months.
Widely seen as a sign of the Church’s evolving pastoral outreach, the programme reflects a broader shift towards creative evangelisation in India—meeting people where they are, while drawing them into a deeper encounter with Christ. With plans underway to extend such initiatives through the year, the archdiocese is building momentum toward a more participatory and mission-oriented Church.
