Syro-Malabar Bishops to Meet Prime Minister Modi in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 4, 2025: Senior bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi this afternoon to discuss key matters concerning the Church and the Christian community in India.

The delegation will be led by Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil and will include Archbishop Mar Kuriakose Bharanikulangara of the Faridabad Archdiocese along with a few other bishops from the Syro-Malabar Church.

According to reports, the bishops are expected to request the Prime Minister to extend an official invitation to Pope Leo XIV to visit India.

The meeting will also focus on various challenges faced by Christians in the country. Following the discussion with the Prime Minister, the bishops are expected to address the media later in the day.
