BENGALURU, Sept. 10, 2025 — The Karnataka Regional Commission for Interreligious Dialogue organised a seminar on the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and interreligious dialogue for women today at Subodhana, the Karnataka Region Pastoral Centre in Banaswadi, Bengaluru. The event brought together several Muslim and Christian women to engage in discussion and dialogue on the Prophet's values and the teachings of Jesus Christ. The one-day event aimed to promote mutual understanding and communal harmony among women of both faiths by reflecting on the commonalities between Christianity and Islam.
The programme featured Muslim speakers Tasneem Farzana, Dr. Asifa Nisar and Ms. Khansa Bano, and Christian speakers Sr. Jyothi, Sr. Bincy, Sr. Molly and Ms. Roopa.
All the speakers drew on scriptural teachings from their respective faiths and applied them to kindness, forgiveness, and mercy in daily life. Many of them highlighted the convergent ethical principles in both religions and illustrated how women can act as agents of reconciliation in their communities.
Fr. Vinay Kumar, Karnataka Regional Secretary for the Interreligious Dialogue Commission, conceptualised and executed the seminar, which combined short presentations with moderated dialogue to facilitate candid exchange of views and collaborative problem-solving. Alwin Pavan delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the speakers, organisers and participants for their contributions to the dialogue.
Special guests included Sr. Pavithra, in-charge of the Brahma Kumari Spiritual Centre in Kammanahalli; Mr. Zafrulla, President of the Jamaat Islami Group; Mr. Jasim; and Mrs. Margaret Rebello, whose participation the organisers described as significant to the programme’s success. A few Brahma Kumari sisters joined the attendees and affirmed their commitment to collaborate toward a more communally united society.
The seminar not only fostered meaningful dialogue but also strengthened bonds of friendship among women of both faiths, affirming the shared commitment to peace, compassion, and communal harmony in society.
