Sambalpur Children Explore Gospel Sharing at Faith Formation Workshop

JHARSUGUDA, Odisha, August 3, 2026: Around 120 children from Sambalpur Diocese took part in a Gospel Sharing Workshop at St Arnold’s Catholic Church, Jharsuguda, on August 2, learning practical ways to deepen their relationship with the Word of God and put Gospel values into practice.

The workshop was organised by the Commission for Basic Ecclesial Communities of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India. It brought together 75 girls and 45 boys for a day of prayer, reflection and practical faith formation.

Fr. Felix Lakra and Sr. Meena Dangwar HM animated the sessions. The programme began with a Bible procession, followed by the enthronement of the Holy Bible led by Fr Felix.

The workshop introduced the children to the meaning and mission of Basic Ecclesial Communities and explored the significance of the Seven Steps of Gospel Sharing in Christian life.

The participants were also given an opportunity to practise the Seven Steps of Gospel Sharing through interactive sessions conducted in 10 groups. The group activities encouraged the children to listen to the Word of God, reflect on its message and relate it to their daily lives.

The sessions emphasised the importance of regular reading and reflection on Scripture and encouraged the children to grow in mutual support, love, concern, forgiveness and sharing.

The enthusiastic participation of the children throughout the workshop reflected their interest in learning and living the Gospel. The programme concluded with renewed encouragement for the young participants to make the Word of God a guiding force in their daily lives and to become witnesses to Gospel values within their families and communities.
