Rahul Gandhi Condemns Arrest of Catholic Nuns in Facebook Post, Calls It “Mob Rule”

New Delhi, July 28, 2025: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took to Facebook to sharply criticise the arrest of two Catholic nuns in Chhattisgarh, alleging that they were targeted for their faith. In his post, he called the incident an example of “BJP-RSS mob rule” and described it as part of a “dangerous pattern” of systematic persecution of minorities under the current regime.

“This isn’t justice, it’s BJP-RSS mob rule,” he wrote in the Facebook post, which quickly gained traction with thousands of reactions. “It reflects a dangerous pattern: systematic persecution of minorities under this regime.”

Gandhi also noted that Members of Parliament from the United Democratic Front (UDF) protested in Parliament over the incident. “We will not be silent. Religious freedom is a constitutional right,” he asserted, demanding the immediate release of the arrested nuns and accountability for the injustice.

The post has sparked widespread discussion online and added to the growing political debate over alleged attacks on minority communities in India.
