Over 450 Students Receive Practical AI Training at Three-Day Workshop in Nagaland

Jakhama, Nagaland, July 23, 2026: More than 450 students of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama, participated in a three-day online workshop from 20 July to 22 July on Artificial Intelligence (AI), aimed at equipping young people with practical skills for academics, research, creativity and future careers.

The workshop was organised by Sr. Sunitha Dsouza RJM in collaboration with the college administration under the leadership of Principal Rev. Dr Fr. George Keduolhou Angami, with support from Fr. John Vipral, Director of the Men's Hostel.

Fr. Angami also participated in the sessions and encouraged students to engage with emerging technologies responsibly and use them for constructive purposes.

AI educator and consultant Leo Victor, a Google Certified Generative AI Professional and Oracle Certified AI Trainer, served as the resource person. He has trained more than 20,000 students, 5,000 educators and over 2,000 priests and religious in the effective use of AI in India and abroad.

The workshop introduced students to a variety of AI tools and applications, including AI-assisted research, prompt engineering, NotebookLM, Canva AI, AI-powered presentation platforms, text-to-image generation, text-to-audio and text-to-music tools, productivity applications and responsible AI practices.

The sessions emphasised hands-on applications of AI to support learning, assignments, research, presentations and career preparation.

Addressing the participants, Victor highlighted the growing importance of AI literacy in education.

"Artificial Intelligence is no longer optional—it is an essential skill for every student. AI will not replace you, but a person who knows how to use AI effectively will. The future belongs to those who learn, adapt and innovate," he said.

As part of the initiative, all participants were provided complimentary access to Canva for Education, enabling them to create AI-assisted presentations, educational materials and creative projects.

Students welcomed the programme, describing the sessions as practical, engaging and transformative. Several participants said the workshop helped them recognise AI as a valuable learning companion and understand its potential for enhancing their academic and creative work.

The programme reflects St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama's efforts to equip students with future-ready digital skills and promote innovation and technology-enabled learning in higher education.
