Imphal, August 23, 2026: The Manipur Catholic Youth Organisation, in collaboration with Helping Hands NGO, organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal on August 22, drawing more than 50 participants from different parishes and communities.
More than 36 participants successfully donated blood, including over 14 first-time donors. Regular blood donors and several women also took part in the initiative, the first blood donation drive organised by the youth organisation.
The camp began at around 9.30 am and was conducted with the support of the medical team from the Department of Transfusion Medicine at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
Certificates were presented to those who successfully donated blood in recognition of their contribution. As a gesture of appreciation, MCYO Director Fr. Jacob Darsongam presented a memento to the head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine for the department’s support in conducting the camp.
The initiative brought together young people from different parishes and backgrounds for a common act of community service. Organisers said the drive was intended to encourage young people to respond to community needs through practical acts of solidarity and service.
MCYO said it plans to promote similar initiatives that enable young people to contribute to the welfare of others and strengthen a culture of voluntary service in the community.
