Amravati, August 23, 2026: The Diocesan Pastoral Council (DPC) of the Diocese of Amravati held its meeting on August 22 at the Late Bishop Joseph Rosario MSFS Memorial Hall, focusing on listening, discernment, sharing and communion through the “Conversation in the Spirit” method.
Bishop Malcolm Sequeira of Amravati led the meeting with Fr. Crisler Perumbully, Director of Pastoral Ministries. Fr. explained the methodology and process of the Conversation in the Spirit, drawing attention to its foundations in the spiritual tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola, particularly discernment, attentive listening and seeking God’s will.
DPC members were divided into groups representing the four pastoral zones of the diocese. Participants shared pastoral experiences, concerns, hopes and insights while listening to one another.
The process sought to help members move beyond individual opinions and discern together the pastoral priorities and directions emerging from their discussions. They also examined issues and challenges confronting the diocese.
The meeting enabled DPC members to participate in the Church’s continuing synodal journey of communion, participation and mission.
In his concluding reflection, Bishop Sequeira placed the discussions within the implementation phase of the synodal process. He urged members to carry the spirit of synodality into their respective pastoral zones and communities and to translate the outcomes of the discussions into concrete pastoral initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthening synodal participation and advancing the pastoral mission of the Diocese of Amravati.
