Mangalore, July 21, 2025 — With the blessings of Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha of Mangalore, the Mangalore Diocesan Service of Communion (MDSC) was reconstituted on 19 and 20 July under the direction of the National Service of Communion (NSC) and the Karnataka Regional Service of Communion (KRSC) at the Bishop’s house, Mangalore.
Fr. Clifford Fernandes, Spiritual Director of MDSC, led a session on Called and Chosen, urging participants to embrace their vocation with faith and dedication. Mr. Victor John, NSC Coordinator, followed with a thought-provoking talk on CCR and leadership, highlighting the importance of servant-hearted mission. A brief Q&A session with both speakers encouraged deeper reflection and sharing.
Fr. Franklin D’Souza, KRSC Spiritual Director, offered an inspiring input on servant leadership, calling participants to lead with humility and purpose. He later concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with Fr. Clifford, emphasising the spiritual responsibilities entrusted to those in service.
The second day began with Mr. Joy Anthony speaking on The Oath: A Commitment for 3 Years in the Mission of the Lord, inviting participants to reflect on their dedication to God’s work. Monsignor Fr. Maxim Noronha then addressed the gathering, offering words of encouragement and a special blessing. Following this, nominees introduced themselves, and voting took place. In a prayerful atmosphere of adoration, the Discerning Team finalised the new seven-member leadership.
The new team comprises Mr. Dolphy Lobo as Coordinator, Ms. Mercy Celine Menezes as Secretary, and members Mr. Ronald D’Souza, Ms. Jacinta D’Souza, Mr. Cyprian D’Souza, Ms. Rolma Rachel D’Costa, and Mr. Maurice D’Souza.
Fr. Clifford Fernandes initiated the process of appointing a Deanery representative to strengthen renewal efforts across the local communities and took a moment to thank the resource team for their dedicated service. The gathering culminated in a heartfelt Thanksgiving Eucharist presided over by Fr. Franklin D’Souza, during which the newly chosen team took their oath of service. The Mass concluded with a solemn laying on of hands, invoking the Holy Spirit’s guidance. In a symbolic moment of transition, Mr. Kevan D’Souza handed over the files and key to Mr. Dolphy Lobo, ushering in a new chapter of leadership.
The reconstitution infused the MDSC with fresh energy and direction, equipping the new team to lead the diocese forward with faith, unity, and a renewed sense of mission.
