Meghnagar, M.P., July 18, 2025: Over 100 youth from across the Diocese of Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh gathered at the Bishop’s House in Meghnagar on Sunday, July 13, 2025, to participate in the Parish Executive Committee Leadership Training Programme (PLTP) and the Diocesan Executive Committee elections of the Young Catholic Students (YCS) and the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) units of the Diocese.
The event aimed to nurture young leaders through leadership training and democratic participation in youth governance.
The programme began with an introductory address that highlighted the importance of leadership, participation, and the spirit of service in youth movements.
Fr. Mathew Katara SDB then led an impactful session, offering valuable insights on values-driven leadership and a deep commitment to mission. This was followed by a motivational talk by Mr. Akshay Kamaliya, a youth leader from the Indian National Congress, who inspired attendees to believe in themselves and take initiative for societal transformation.
The highlight of the day was the historic election of the new Diocesan Executive Committee (DEXCO) for the YCS and ICYM units of the Jhabua Diocese.
The elections were conducted smoothly under the supervision of Fr. Vishal Mal and Anuj Ninama, a member of the National Executive Committee of YCS/YSM India. Sr. Sarita Minj, the Diocesan Youth Lady Animator, along with four YCS Regional Executive Committee members—Kevin Katara, Nidhi Damor, Somya Dodiyar, and Khushi Bhabor—played an active role in supporting the participants throughout the election process.
The elections were significant, as they marked the first time in the history of the YCS movement in the Diocese of Jhabua that the YCS DEXCO committee was democratically elected.
After the elections, participants enjoyed a lunch break, followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist led by Bp. Peter Rumal Kharadi, Bishop of Jhabua Diocese.
In his homily, Bishop Kharadi reminded the youth that God welcomes each one to leadership. He encouraged the youth to embrace this calling with love, dedication, and a deep sense of commitment.
A heartfelt farewell was extended to the outgoing DEXCO members of the YCS and ICYM units of the Diocese, and a warm welcome was accorded to the newly elected representatives. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
The event marked a significant milestone in the journey of youth leadership within the Jhabua Diocese, igniting a renewed spirit of commitment and vision among the youth of the region.
