Sapling Distribution Drive Held at Annunciation Cathedral, Jaipur

Jaipur, July 18, 2025— The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Annunciation, located in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur, organised a Plant Sapling Distribution Drive on Sunday, July 13, 2025, within the church compound. The event was led by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Melwin D’Souza and Associate Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Siby Mathew, who distributed saplings of various plant species to several parishioners following the Sunday Mass. The initiative aimed to highlight the importance of nurturing nature and to inspire the community to take active steps toward environmental conservation.

Saplings of Lemon, Neem, Arabian Jasmine, Black Plum, and Indian Beech were among those distributed during the drive. Each of these plants carries unique ecological and cultural significance, and their planting contributes to a greener, healthier planet.

The event reflected the parish’s commitment to the holistic well-being of both the earth and its people. It fostered a sense of environmental stewardship among parishioners and highlighted the theological significance of plants within the Christian tradition.

“This green initiative is a silent prayer for a better tomorrow,” said Mrs. Sunita Peter, a parish member and coordinator of the event. “In nurturing plants, we nurture life and sow seeds of hope for future generations.”

The Parish hopes this annual effort will not only beautify the surroundings but also encourage families to cultivate an enduring bond with nature.
