Hundreds of Migrants Unite in Bangalore for Pentecost Night Vigil by Migrants Commission

Bangalore, 9 June 2025: The Pentecostal Night Vigil 2025 for Migrants, organised by the Migration Commission of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, was a grace-filled night of prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Over 600 migrant faithful gathered in deep communion, united in their longing for the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.

The evening was blessed by the presence of Auxiliary Bishop Arokiaraj Satis Kumar who warmly greeted the gathering and extended his prayerful wishes and blessings for the vigil. His fatherly presence affirmed the Church’s enduring love and commitment to its migrant communities.

The vigil commenced with the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The night overflowed with a powerful Pentecostal spirit, reminiscent of the Upper Room encounter with Mother Mary and the disciples, as hearts opened in joyful expectation.

Fr. Samir Minj SJ and Mr. Abhishek Joseph delivered inspiring talks, encouraging the faithful to live with hope and courage, rooted in the gifts of the Holy Spirit amid their migrant journey. The vibrant singing of two enthusiastic choir groups enriched the atmosphere, drawing all into a deep spirit of worship and praise.

The night stood out not only for its spiritual depth but also for its excellent organisation. Migrants from across Bangalore came together for this special occasion. Many expressed joy and surprise at the strong sense of unity and hospitality they encountered. It was clear that every group had been personally invited, and the thoughtful coordination fostered an atmosphere of warmth and belonging. It truly felt like a grand celebration of community and faith.

The event was graced by the presence of key leaders:

Fr. Franklin Minj CMF, Secretary of the Migration Commission, who also delivered the Vote of Thanks,

Sr. Jessie ASC, Joint Secretary of the Commission, and

Sr. Moly ASC, whose encouraging presence and support were deeply appreciated.

Various members of the migrant community also played an active role, leading intercessory prayers, moments of thanksgiving, and reflections—expressing their heartfelt gratitude for such a night of blessing and togetherness.
