Camerino, Italy, August 27, 2026: A global appeal has been made to Capuchins, Franciscans, priests, religious, lay faithful and friends of the Franciscan family to support the Renacavata Capuchin Friary in Camerino, Italy, in the ongoing national heritage voting campaign of the Italian Environment Fund (FAI).
Renacavata is currently among the leading sites in the national ranking, prompting supporters to mobilise internationally and encourage wider participation in the voting process.
The friary holds a unique place in Capuchin history. It is closely associated with the origins of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, which began in 1528. The site preserves the memory of the early Capuchin communities and their commitment to simplicity, fraternity, prayer and service.
Located a few kilometres from Camerino in the Marche region, Renacavata retains significant elements of its early history, including the friars’ cells, ancient refectory and structures dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.
The friary church also houses an important polychrome glazed terracotta work by Santi Buglioni, dating from the early 16th century. The work depicts St Francis wearing the Capuchin habit and is regarded as an important artistic and historical testimony to the early identity of the Capuchin Order.
Renacavata continues to have significance for pilgrims and visitors through its connection with the Capuchin Way, a pilgrimage route associated with the origins and spirituality of the Order.
The campaign assumes added significance as the Capuchin Order prepares to celebrate its 500th anniversary in 2028. Greater recognition of Renacavata through the FAI initiative could contribute to efforts to preserve its historical, artistic and spiritual heritage.

People wishing to support Renacavata can search online for the FAI page titled “Convento dei Frati Cappuccini Renacavata Camerino” and access the voting section.
The voting button is marked “VOTA CON 1 CLIC,” which means “Vote with One Click.”
The voting form is in Italian. Some of the terms voters may encounter include:

Voters should enter the required information and follow the instructions displayed on the page. Where the CAP field is not required for international voters, it should be left blank.
Email Confirmation Required
Submitting the form is not the final step. After voting, participants should check the email address they provided. The confirmation message may also appear in the Spam, Junk, Promotions or Updates folder.
The email will contain an option such as “Conferma il tuo voto,” meaning “Confirm your vote.” Clicking the confirmation link completes the voting process.
Supporters are being encouraged to share information about the campaign widely through parishes, religious communities, Franciscan institutions, Catholic organisations and social media networks.
The appeal is more than a call for votes, organisers say. It is an invitation to the worldwide Franciscan family to help preserve a place that embodies the beginnings of the Capuchin tradition and continues to serve as a witness to its spirituality of simplicity, fraternity and prayer.
