PUNE, September 14, 2026: Hindi Diwas celebrations at St. Joseph Boys’ School, Khadki, became an occasion for academic recognition and cultural appreciation as Fr Denis Dominic Joseph was honoured with the ‘Vidya-Vachaspati’ Honorary Award by Kashi Hindi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi.
The honorary award, considered equivalent to a PhD, recognises Fr. Denis Joseph’s contribution to Hindi, Saraswat Sadhana and the field of Arts, as well as his academic achievements, research and service at the national and international levels.
The honour was conferred by Dr. Sambhaji Rajaram Baviskar, Chancellor of Kashi Hindi Vidyapeeth, in the presence of Dr. Raj Allwyn Devedas, Vice-Chancellor. The recognition was warmly received by the students and staff of St. Joseph Boys’ School.
The school marked Hindi Diwas with active participation from students and teachers. Hindi-themed displays, posters and creative presentations were put up across the campus, highlighting the importance of the language, its literature and India's cultural heritage.
Addressing the gathering, Fr. Denis Joseph thanked the students and staff for their support and for organising the celebration. He appreciated the enthusiasm of the teachers and students and encouraged them to continue learning and respecting Indian languages.
He said language learning goes beyond communication, opening avenues to a deeper understanding of culture, history, literature, values and people.
Fr. Denis also expressed appreciation for Kashi Hindi Vidyapeeth for its efforts to promote Hindi language and literature, education and cultural values, and for recognising individuals who contribute to scholarship and education.
He described the ‘Vidya-Vachaspati’ honour as an encouragement to continue serving education, language, culture and society. He acknowledged the support of students, teachers, colleagues and well-wishers who have accompanied him in his academic and service journey.
The celebration concluded with group photographs involving Fr Denis Joseph, teachers, staff and students, bringing together academic recognition and the school community’s celebration of Hindi Diwas.
