Vatican , October 3, 2026: What if your next classroom were Rome, where professional media training meets the beauty and life of the Catholic Church?
The EWTN Summer Academy 2027 is inviting young Catholics from around the world to spend 11 days in the Eternal City, developing their skills in journalism, digital media, cinematography and Catholic storytelling while deepening their understanding of the Church's mission.
Organised by the EWTN Vatican Office, the programme will take place from 21 June to 1 July 2027. Applications are open until 18 December 2026.
For young people passionate about communicating the faith, the academy offers an opportunity to grow not only as media professionals but also as Catholic communicators.
The Summer Academy is designed as an intensive, team-based and discussion-focused programme.
Participants will have opportunities to strengthen practical skills in journalism, video editing, digital content creation, cinematography and storytelling, with professional media training forming an important part of the experience.
But the academy goes beyond technical skills.
Participants will also explore beauty, virtue, philosophy and theology, helping them consider the deeper meaning and responsibility behind communicating Catholic stories.
The aim is not simply to teach young people how to create content, but to help them understand why stories matter and how media can serve the Church and society.
One of the distinctive features of the academy is its international character.
Around 40–45 young communicators from different countries will come together to learn, collaborate and share their experiences of Catholic media.
The gathering provides an opportunity to encounter the universal Church through friendships and conversations with young Catholics from different cultures and backgrounds.
Participants will also become part of the EWTN Alumni network, extending the experience beyond the academy itself.
The programme is open to Catholics aged 21 to 35. Candidates with one to two years of experience in digital content creation, journalism, film, media or communications are preferred.
Proficiency in English is required, while places are limited and selection will be competitive.
Perhaps most significantly, the programme is offered free of charge, with accommodation and meals provided, along with travel stipends for participants.
For a young Catholic journalist, filmmaker, photographer or digital storyteller, this is more than a summer course.
It is an invitation to stand at the heart of the Church, sharpen professional skills, deepen the faith and meet fellow communicators who want to tell stories that inspire.
Applications close on 18 December 2026.
