LAMKA, September 14, 2026: Christian leaders from multiple denominations, Zo political representatives and civil society organisations gathered in Manipur’s Lamka town on September 13 to pray for peace, unity and the restoration of normalcy amid continuing violence and uncertainty in the state.
Organised by the Zo Christian Leaders Forum (ZCLF) at MELC Church in Zomi Colony, the gathering brought together representatives of the Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Zo Christian Bible Churches and Assemblies of God communities.
The programme drew inspiration from Ezekiel 22:30, which speaks of standing in the gap on behalf of the land. Participants prayed for the well-being of the Zo community and a peaceful future for Manipur.
The gathering marked the first participation of Catholic priests, Zo Catholic community leaders and faithful, with the Catholic Church also invited to deliver an address.
Fr. Mark Aimeng, the first Zo Catholic priest and former coordinator of Radio Veritas Asia’s Zo Service, was among nine speakers. Reflecting on Proverbs 29:18, he stressed the importance of vision, spiritual guidance and responsible leadership in shaping the community’s future.
Referring to the violence that has brought killings, arson and the destruction of homes, particularly in Manipur’s hill districts, Fr. Mark underlined the significance of collective prayer during a period of continuing insecurity.
He commended the forum for bringing Christian communities together and urged the faithful to trust in God while seeking wisdom and direction in confronting the challenges facing their people.
Fr. Mark also led prayers for peace in Manipur, unity among the Zo people and the well-being of the wider community.
Similar prayer gatherings were held in Shillong, Delhi, Bengaluru and Guwahati, where members of the Zo community reside.
The initiative highlighted interdenominational Christian solidarity and a shared appeal for peace, reconciliation and stability in Manipur.
