Alamelarangapuram, April 29, 2026: In a timely initiative aimed at promoting the well-being of its clergy, the Diocese of Vellore conducted a formation programme to help priests confront burnout and rediscover the joy of their vocation.
The third batch of the ongoing clergy formation programme was held on April 27 and 28 at Sneha Deepam, Alamelarangapuram. Focusing on the theme, "Psycho-Spiritual Integration: From Burnout to Cherishing," the gathering offered priests a valuable opportunity for reflection, renewal, and fraternity.
Designed to address the psychological and spiritual demands of pastoral ministry, the programme created a supportive environment where priests could examine their experiences and better understand the challenges they face.
Fr. Dr. I. Sathian Innasi, OFM Cap., served as the resource person, leading participants through sessions on self-awareness, emotional healing, and spiritual integration. His presentations encouraged priests to recognise emotional patterns, deepen their spiritual rootedness, and rediscover joy and purpose in their priestly life.
Addressing the gathering, Bishop Ambrose of Vellore reminded the clergy that priesthood is not merely a set of responsibilities, but a grace-filled relationship with Christ. He stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between prayer, pastoral work, and personal rest. He also encouraged priests to see moments of struggle as opportunities for deeper trust in God and authentic renewal.
A significant number of diocesan priests participated actively in the programme, engaging in group discussions, guided reflections, and personal sharing. The serene surroundings of Sneha Deepam provided an ideal setting for prayer, reflection, and fraternity.
The presence of diocesan leaders, including Msgr. M. John Nicholas, Fr. Richard, Fr. N. T. Irudhayaraj, Fr. Jegadhis, and Fr. Lua Thomas, underscored the Diocese's strong commitment to the ongoing formation and holistic care of its clergy.
As pastoral demands continue to grow, the Diocese of Vellore's sustained focus on psycho-spiritual formation reflects a farsighted commitment to nurturing emotionally resilient, spiritually grounded, and mission-driven priests.
