VatChat Brings Together Faithful for a Transformative Experience

Nagpur, September 30, 2024: In a remarkable display of unity and commitment to faith, the Pastoral Centre of the Archdiocese of Nagpur hosted VatChat on September 26, an interactive event aimed at deepening the understanding of the Four Constitutions of the Second Vatican Council. Over 300 participants including clergy, men and women religious, lay faithful, seminarians, candidates in formation and young people gathered for this significant occasion to engage in discussions and learning. 


The event was presided over by Fr. Antony D’Souza, Vicar General of the Archdiocese. In his presidential address, Fr. D’Souza emphasized the purpose of the event, stating, "We have come together to open the treasure houses of the Second Vatican Council." Archbishop Elias Gonsalves of Nagpur highlighted the importance of this initiative as a step towards personal and collective renewal in preparation for the Jubilee Year 2025.


Nine young speakers analyzed and brought to life the Four Constitutions- Sacrosanctum Concilium, Lumen Gentium, Dei Verbum and Gaudium et Spes. Rev. Prof. Yesu Karunanidhi, National Coordinator for Jubilee 2025, commended the speakers for overcoming conceptual barriers and remarked "This learning is the point of arrival and the point of departure." 

The event was organized under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Vivian Wilson Lobo in collaboration with the Pallottine Animation Centre of Nagpur. Ms. Ancina Santiago of St. Joseph’s School, Kamptee received recognition for her presentation on Sacrosanctum Concilium, describing it as "a moment of soul-searching."


Adding to the day’s significance, the Vicar General unveiled the Jubilee 2025 Cross which had been prepared by the Christian Life Commission of the Archdiocese. The unveiling was part of the CCBI Jubilee Yātra, aligning VatChat with nationwide celebrations of the Jubilee Year.
