Three Novices Take First Vows at Christ Jyoti Convent in Prayagraj

Prayagraj, Feb. 15, 2026 — Three novices of the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth took their first formal step in consecrated life during a solemn celebration of Religious Vestition and First Profession at Christ Jyoti Convent on Saturday morning.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bp Louis Mascarenhas, who led the congregation in prayer as the families of Sr Rose Grace CSN, Sr Raji Maria CSN and Sr Celina CSN blessed their daughters and symbolically offered them to God. The novices then professed the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience, committing themselves to a life of service to the Church.

In his homily, the bishop described religious life as a joyful and generous response to God’s enduring love, urging the newly professed sisters to remain rooted in prayer, faithful in their vocation and compassionate in service. He called on them to become visible signs of hope in a rapidly changing world.

A felicitation programme followed the liturgy, with Provincial Superior Sr Lata CSN and members of the congregation extending congratulations and words of encouragement. The celebration continued with a cake-cutting ceremony and a fellowship meal attended by clergy, religious, family members and well-wishers.

The event concluded with prayers of thanksgiving for the sisters’ vocation and for the continued mission of the congregation. Sr Celina CSN delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the day’s celebrations.

The ceremony marked a moment of joy for the congregation and the local Church in Prayagraj, as three young women publicly embraced their call to religious life.
