TCBC Youth Commission Charts Fresh Vision for Youth Ministry

Bandlaguda Jagir, Telengana, 12 June, 2025 : The TCBC Youth Commission convened a significant meeting at Don Bosco Provincial House, Bandlaguda Jagir, uniting diocesan youth directors, youth leaders, representatives from various Catholic movements, and religious personnel from across the Telugu-speaking dioceses. The gathering aimed to reflect on the mission and future direction of youth ministry in the region.


The day commenced with a warm welcome, prayer song, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by key figures including Fr. Santiagu Thomas SDB, Provincial; Fr. Kishore, Vice Provincial; Fr. Jaipual, Claretian priest; Prakasamma, Ex CHARIS National Service Commission member; Uday from Jesus Youth; Sr. Chinnari (Sisters of Charity); and Sr. Thangam (JMJ Congregation). Their participation underscored the collaborative spirit of clergy, religious, and laity in youth evangelisation.


Rayarala Vijaya Kumar PIME, Bishop of Srikakulam and Chairman of the TCBC Youth Commission, addressed the assembly, encouraging renewed commitment to walking with young people in faith and hope. Fr. Noel, the guest speaker, followed with an inspiring talk urging a creative and loving approach to youth ministry.


Participants were introduced to one another, nurturing a spirit of fellowship. The REXCO team welcomed new diocesan youth directors, while the NEXCO team offered a moving farewell to outgoing Regional Youth Secretary, Fr. Sagili Praveen Kumar, who shared reflections on his seven-year journey of service.


Mr. Vijayraj, TCBC Youth Coordinator, presented a detailed regional report outlining past activities and accomplishments. The meeting also saw the official launch of Yuvajwala, the TCBC Youth Commission’s quarterly youth magazine, showcasing the voices and talents of Telugu Catholic youth.


An engaging ice-breaker by the Jesus Youth team energised the attendees, followed by an orientation session led by Fr. K.T. Jose SDB, who highlighted key pillars of Catholic youth ministry, stressing pastoral presence and leadership.


Post-lunch, Fr. Santiagu Thomas facilitated a strategic planning session, prompting open group discussions and the sharing of ideas and strategies for future action.


In his concluding message and blessing, Bishop Vijaya Kumar expressed gratitude for the collaborative spirit and urged participants to continue with unity, enthusiasm, and a missionary heart. The meeting marked a pivotal moment for shaping the next chapter in Telugu Catholic youth ministry.
