Salesians of Mumbai Launch Second Volume of Jubilee Music Album

Mumbai, July 7, 2025: The second volume of 'Jubilate Jesus 2025,' a gospel music album celebrating the Jubilee Year of Hope, was released on July 3 during a special event held at Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Mumbai. His Grace, Bishop Dominic Savio Fernandes, Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay, graced the event as the chief guest and officially inaugurated the album release. Also in attendance were Fr. Savio Silveira, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Mumbai, and Fr. Godfrey D’Souza, Rector of Don Bosco High School, Matunga. Adding to the musical spirit of the event were renowned professional singers Ella Atai and Karen Dsouza, both of whom have lent their voices to the Jubilate Jesus album.

Jubilate Jesus—Volume 2 follows the success of Volume 1, which was released on December 31, 2024. The Salesian Province of Mumbai produced both volumes of the album through its multimedia centre, Tej-Prasarini. Fr. Savio Silveira, Provincial of the Mumbai Salesians, offered strong support and encouragement to the production team. Fr. Joyson Machado, Director of Tej-Prasarini, also welcomed the project with enthusiasm and extended his full support to the team.

A Musical Message of Light and Vigilance

Speaking to Catholic Connect, Fr. Peter Gonsalves, coordinator of the album’s production team, shared that, unlike Volume 1, which features songs celebrating Jesus as a source of hope, Volume 2 of Jubilate Jesus celebrates Jesus as a source of light in times of darkness and distress. He added that the album also invites listeners to become a source of light and guidance to those around them.

“The album features reflections on the Beatitudes and a call to be vigilant, even when the night is dark,” Fr. Peter said. “If we love Jesus, we ought to live by His words. Joy is all we have when we befriend Him; we exalt Him as our King, our heritage, and the King of our souls.”

Fr. Peter highlighted the careful musical arrangement in the songs of the album, which mirrors the depth of their respective spiritual themes. “The styles range from bossa nova and soul to jazz, enriched with Indian instrumentation,” he said. “The attention to musical detail is on par with the theological and emotional richness of each track,” he added.

A Spirit-Filled Collaboration

The production of the album was a collaborative effort involving numerous professionals. Sound engineering, mixing, and final editing were led by Amon Daniels, with contributions from Roney Gomes, Neuman Pinto, and Clifton Rodricks. Alan Manuel SDB, Ethan Fortes SDB, and Ankita Shelke handled the videography, while Jay Franco compiled the music scores. The album also features several Italian songs, which were translated into English by Kenneth Pereira SDB and Fr. Peter.

Singers from various parishes across Mumbai lent their voices to the tracks. Their names appear after each song in the album.

Father Peter shared that his favourite song from Volume 2 of 'Jubilate Jesus' is the track 'King of My Soul'. “I find it to be very special because it flows directly from an intimate experience with the Lord and the mission He has entrusted to me as a Salesian priest,” he says.

Celebrating 30 Years of Tej-Prasarini

The release of 'Jubilate Jesus, Volume 2,' coincided with the 30th anniversary of Tej-Prasarini, the multimedia and communication centre of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Mumbai.

Founded by Father Peter in 1988, Tej-Prasarini (meaning "light spreader" or "radiating light") was originally conceived as a platform for hymns and bhajans in the Marathi language, inspired by his posting to the Ahmednagar mission of the Salesians society the same year.

In 1995, the Provincial Chapter of the Salesian Province of Mumbai recognised Tej-Prasarini as the province's official media house.

“With this new mandate and our subsequent move to Mumbai, we expanded our productions to include educational books and audio cassettes of gospel songs in both English and Marathi,” Father Peter shared.

Digital Evangelisation Through YouTube

With the advent of YouTube, Tej-Prasarini shifted from recording gospel songs on audio cassettes to publishing them on their English YouTube channel, titled 'God Still Loves.' The channel was launched in 2011.

“As of June 30, 2025, the channel hosts 43 videos, which have garnered 38,574,635 views (i.e., more than 3.85 crore views) and over 179,000 subscribers,” Father Peter proudly states. “Our Marathi YouTube channel, Tej-Prasarini-Marathi, was launched in 2015 and currently features 27 videos with a total of 4,073,022 views and over 17,600 subscribers.”

All tracks from Jubilate Jesus 2025—Volume 2 are available for streaming on Tej-Prasarini’s English YouTube channel, ‘God Still Loves,’ with AI-generated visuals and lyrics. “Our aim is to invite listeners not only to enjoy the music but also to reflect deeply on the lyrics and the accompanying arrangements.

A Call to Shine in the Jubilee Year

Father Peter states that the message of the album is addressed to all Christians celebrating the Jubilee Year of Christ’s birth. “We hope that this album helps each listener draw closer to Jesus, because He alone is our unfailing hope, and He alone is the light that dispels all darkness. By welcoming Him into our hearts during this special year of grace, we are called to extend that grace to others—in peace, in service, in forgiveness, and in the ongoing work of building the Kingdom of God,” he said.
