Goa, April 4, 2026: In his Easter message to the faithful, Filipe Cardinal Neri Ferrão, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, has called on Christians to become “catalysts of peace” in a world marked by conflict and division, while extending warm greetings of joy and grace on the feast of the Resurrection.
“Along with our Auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Simião Fernandes, I would like to wish you all a very happy and grace-filled Easter,” the Cardinal said, inviting the faithful to enter more deeply into the spirit of the season.
Reflecting on the significance of Easter, Cardinal Ferrão described the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as “the ultimate victory of light over darkness and hope over despair.” He emphasised that this central mystery of the Christian faith carries a compelling call to promote peace, particularly in today’s fractured world.
Encouraging believers to live out the message of the Resurrection in tangible ways, he urged them to reach out to those on the margins of society, especially the lonely and the suffering. “Our joy must be translated into concrete acts of service,” he noted, underscoring the need for faith to find expression in compassionate action.
The Cardinal further called for a renewed commitment to fostering understanding, forgiveness, and harmony within communities. Celebrating the Risen Lord, he said, is not only a proclamation of faith but also an invitation to build a more compassionate and united society.
Concluding his message, Cardinal Ferrão, who also serves as President of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) and the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), offered a prayer for the nation: “May the Risen Lord bless our homes and our land with lasting peace.”
