RSLTP 2025 Begins at Don Bosco Mission, Davanagere, Karnataka

Davanagere, Karnataka, 2 May, 2025 — The Regional Students Leadership Training Programme (RSLTP) of the Young Catholic Students/Young Students Movement (YCS/YSM) began on 1 May at Don Bosco Centre, Davanagere, in the Diocese of Shimoga. The four-day event brought together 50 student leaders and 25 YCS animators from nine dioceses across Karnataka.


YCS/YSM National President Mr. Anson Nazareth and the REXCO team inaugurated the programme, followed by opening remarks from Regional Youth Director Fr. Lourd Raj and Shimoga Diocesan Youth Director Fr. Franklin D’Souza.


Icebreaking activities led by Mr. Anson helped participants connect before the inaugural Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Fr. Lourd Raj. In his homily, Fr. D’Souza reflected on Christian leadership as a gift from God, grounded in love, service, and forgiveness.


The inaugural ceremony featured a prayer dance by Ms. Alisha Bishop, followed by a welcome by Regional President Ms. Jesvita D’Souza. Fr. Lourd Raj delivered the keynote address, with contributions from KRYC Coordinator Ms. Vileena and Fr. Alvine Stanislaus. Fr. Antony Nazareth, Parish Priest of St. Thomas Church, gave the presidential address and was honoured on his ordination anniversary.


After dinner, Fr. Regi Jacob, Director of Don Bosco Child Labour Mission, presented a compelling session on child rights, the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Don Bosco open shelter. The REXCO team recognised his work.


The day ended with an evaluation and blessing prayer led by Fr. Franklin D’Souza.
