Salt Lake City, September 11, 2025 – Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative activist and a close ally of US President Donald Trump, was shot dead during an event at a Utah college. Kirk, widely recognised for his strong advocacy in pro-life dialogue and his outspoken defence of faith and family values, was deeply admired in Christian circles and beyond.
President Trump confirmed Kirk’s death, describing him as a “great, and even legendary” figure. In a strongly worded statement, he vowed decisive action against those behind the killing.
One of His Last Messages
One of Charlie’s last messages was on the Gospel: “Jesus Christ was a real person, He lived a perfect life. He was crucified, died and rose on the third day and He is Lord and God over all.”
What He Wanted to Be Remembered For
In one interview, when asked how he wished to be remembered, he replied: “I want to be remembered for courage for my faith. The most important thing is my faith.”
His Thoughts on Mary
Although not a Catholic, Kirk also spoke boldly about Mary, emphasising that Protestants do not venerate her enough. He described Mary as the solution to toxic feminism, a conviction that reflected his willingness to bridge faith traditions in defence of family and spiritual values.
His Family
He is survived by his wife, Erika Frantzve Kirk, whom he married in May 2021. Together they had two children: a daughter born in August 2022 (about 3 years old) and a son born in May 2024 (about 1 year old). His wife and children were central to his life and legacy.
A Legacy of Leadership and Advocacy
He founded Turning Point USA in 2012 online with Bill Montgomery, starting as a small campus-based movement. Over his career, he built TPUSA into one of the fastest-growing youth activist organizations in America, expanding to thousands of chapters nationwide and raising tens of millions of dollars. He also authored several books and became a prominent media personality with a daily talk show and frequent appearances across conservative platforms.
Trump Vows Action
“My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country,” Trump declared.
Kirk’s assassination has drawn widespread shock, particularly among communities where his defence of life, faith, and family values made him a respected voice. Known for his deep Christian devotion, he often spoke passionately on issues central to faith-based ethics and cultural dialogue.
Meanwhile, FBI Director Kash Patel reported that a person taken into custody on suspicion of involvement in the shooting had been released, with investigations continuing.

Loving God, we entrust to You the soul of Charlie Kirk. Grant him eternal peace, and comfort his wife, children, and family in their grief. We pray also for those who opposed him and even rejoiced at his death. Transform their hearts with Your mercy, that anger may be turned into understanding, and bitterness into peace. Inspire us to carry forward his legacy of faith and courage, defending truth, life, and family with love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
