Dibrugarh, 10 December 2025 — A vibrant mix of cultural celebration, Advent reflection and sporting excitement brought hundreds of parishioners together on Sunday as Dhuria Parish in Dibrugarh diocese, hosted its annual Pre-Christmas programme and the final match of the St Joseph’s Cup. The event, organised by the parish’s Purush (Men) Association, took place at St Dominic’s High School grounds in Kathaloni and showcased strong community participation from neighbouring villages and tea gardens.
Parish Priest Fr. Paul Thettayil led the gathering, joined by Fr. Paulus Kullu, journalist Pores Aind, St Dominic’s School Principal Sister Pushpa Kujur and Sister Superior Kripa Tirkey. Their presence underscored the parish’s emphasis on family life, fraternity and spiritual preparation during the Advent season.
Cultural groups set the tone for the day with songs, dances and traditional performances that reflected themes of hope and anticipation.
Between performances, Pores Aind and Dr Paulus Kullu delivered animation sessions encouraging men of the parish to embrace their roles as responsible fathers, husbands and faith leaders. They stressed that committed family life forms the backbone of a strong parish community.
The day’s programme was coordinated by St Joseph’s Purush Committee president Probin Kujur and secretary Sunil Kujur, while social worker Pete Minj served as the event anchor.
In the afternoon, excitement peaked with the final match of the St Joseph’s Cup, an annual football tournament dedicated to married men and held in honour of St Joseph, patron of the Holy Family. Konwaripathar clinched a 2–0 victory over Dhuria to lift this year’s trophy. Cornelius Beck of Konwaripathar was named Man of the Match, and Christopher Kashyap of Dhuria received the Man of the Tournament award. The 2025 edition of the tournament featured 17 teams, reflecting strong engagement, discipline and sportsmanship across the parish.
