National Youth Sunday Celebrated at St. John Bosco Parish in Tinsukia, Assam

TINSUKIA, Assam, August 25, 2025: Over 550 young parishioners of St. John Bosco Church, Tinsukia, a parish under the Diocese of Dibrugarh in Assam, gathered on 24 August 2025 at the church premises to celebrate National Youth Sunday. Organised by the parish youth executive committee under the theme “Youths as Pilgrims of Hope”, the celebration sought to inspire a sense of purpose, unity, and cultural pride among the young faithful of the parish.

The event commenced with a Holy Mass presided over by Fr. John Minj, Diocesan Youth Director of Dibrugarh Diocese. This was followed by the ceremonial hoisting of the parish youth flag alongside flags from all village circles—a symbolic gesture of unity, brotherhood, and the shared mission of the parish's youth.


The event also featured a felicitation ceremony recognising the newly elected parish youth executive committee members for their dedication to community service. This was followed by a one-hour career guidance and orientation session led by Fr. Minj, who shared valuable insights aimed at inspiring the youth to build purposeful and meaningful futures.


Fr. Tarsicius Toppo, SDB, inspired the gathering with an uplifting message, urging the youth to live their faith with courage and hope. 


The afternoon featured a lively Fashion Show Competition, where several youth of the parish wowed the audience with their style and flair. This was followed by a vibrant cultural dance performance on the playground, showcasing the artistic talent and rich cultural diversity of the parish’s young members. 


The celebration concluded on a high note, filling participants with joy and leaving them inspired, energized, and more closely connected. 

The parish community expressed heartfelt gratitude to Parish Priest Fr. Shilanada, Headmaster Fr. Tarsicius, Administrator Fr. Jerome, Rector and Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Jonas Kerketta, and Fr. Blasius Tete for their guidance and unwavering support. Their dedication and encouragement played a pivotal role in making the event a huge success.


A participant noted, “The event was important to rejuvenate the lives and hopes of the youth of the parish. It helped us to grow, learn, and gain new experiences.”
