KOCHI, October 8, 2026: The Catholic Nurses Guild of India (CNGI), Kerala chapter, has elected a new leadership team for the 2026–2029 term, with the new office-bearers inducted at an executive committee meeting held at the Pastoral Orientation Centre (POC), Kochi.
Bishop Alex Vadakkamthala of Kannur, Chairman of the Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) Health Commission, inducted the new office-bearers and called on them to strengthen both the professional competence and compassionate care of nurses.
Mrs Litty Varghese, CEO of Excelasia Academy, was elected president, while Sr Teeja SD, Nursing Manager at Lisie Hospital, Ernakulam, was elected vice president.
Mrs Lincy Jacob, OT Manager at Mar Sleeva Medicity, Pala, will serve as secretary. Sr Betsy Antony HC of Holy Cross Convent, who works at Kannur District Hospital, was elected joint secretary.
Sr July Agnus DM, Nursing Superintendent at St Joseph’s Mission Hospital, Anchal, was elected treasurer, while Sr Sunita HC, Surgery ICU Manager at Holy Cross Hospital, Kottiyam, was elected assistant treasurer.
Dr Sr Lillisa SABS, secretary of the KCBC Health Commission, and Fr James Kunnath, CNGI State Ecclesial Adviser, were present at the induction ceremony.
The meeting also acknowledged the contribution of the outgoing president, secretary and executive committee for their leadership and the activities carried out during their term.
