NEW DELHI, October 8, 2026: Catholics across India have been invited to take part in a 36-hour national Chain Rosary from October 8 to 10, with prayers focused on priests, peace and the protection of human life.
Organised by the World Apostolate of Fatima (WAF) India under the theme “Priests • Peace • Life,” the initiative calls on parish communities and families to pray the Rosary between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. during the two-day period.
The first intention is for priests, with prayers for holy, courageous and compassionate shepherds and for those facing loneliness, exhaustion and demanding pastoral responsibilities. The initiative also seeks prayers for new vocations to the priesthood and religious life and encourages families to help young people discern and respond to God’s call.
The second intention is peace amid conflicts, divisions and persecution of Christians in different parts of the world. Participants are invited to pray for reconciliation, religious freedom and those suffering because of their faith, as well as for healing in families and communities affected by anger, fear and rejection.
The third intention focuses on the protection of human life and dignity, with particular prayers for people affected by abortion, suicide and euthanasia. The initiative also highlights mothers facing difficult pregnancies, people experiencing despair and elderly people facing neglect, abandonment or ill-treatment.
WAF India has called for compassionate support and practical care for vulnerable people and renewed respect for human life from conception to natural death.
The initiative has received encouragement through episcopal letters from the Archdioceses of Goa and Daman and Agra. WAF India has invited Catholics to join participating parishes or take part in the Chain Rosary from their homes with their families.
The organisers describe each Rosary as an offering of hope and an invitation to translate prayer into concrete acts of love, particularly through defending vulnerable people and caring for those in need.
