Karwar Diocese Concludes Regional Youth Cross Pilgrimage

Karwar, Sept. 23, 2025: The journey of the Karnataka Regional Youth Cross within the Karwar Diocese concluded with a solemn ceremony on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Kajubag, Karwar. The event brought together youth, clergy, religious, and lay faithful in a spirit of prayer and devotion to mark the culmination of the Cross’s pilgrimage across all parishes of the diocese.

The programme commenced in the evening at St. Joseph’s College & School Ground, where youth representatives of Baad Parish reverently handed over the Regional Youth Cross to the youth representatives of the Cathedral parish. From there, a prayerful procession, led by Fr. Thomas Fernandes, Rector of the Cathedral, along with parish youth representatives, Fr. Wilson D’Souza, Kajubag Deanery Youth Coordinator, and Fr. Stany Pinto, made its way towards the Cathedral. Parishioners recited prayers and sang hymns throughout the procession.

At the Cathedral, the youth led special prayers in front of the Cross. This was followed by a reflection from Fr. Stany Pinto, who urged the young faithful to embrace the Cross as a source of strength, faith, and hope.

The highlight of the evening was the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Thomas Fernandes, with Fr. Stany Pinto and Fr. Wilson D’Souza concelebrating. In his homily, Fr. Fernandes underscored the significance of the Cross in the life of young people. The Mass was followed by the Veneration of the Cross, during which the faithful expressed their devotion with deep reverence.

The ceremony saw active participation from ICYM Kajubag Deanery youth, DEXCO members, priests, nuns, and lay faithful, whose collective presence enriched the celebration.

In his concluding address, Diocesan Youth President Mr. Roystan Dias extended heartfelt gratitude to all parishes, priests, religious, and youth who contributed to the successful journey of the Regional Youth Cross in the Karwar Diocese.
