Jubilee Convention in Guwahati Empowers YCS YSM students as "Pilgrims of Hope"

Guwahati, October 22, 2025 — The YCS YSM ( Young Catholic Students) ( Young Students Movement) convention 2025, held at Don Bosco School, Paan Bazar, from 17 to 20 October, embraced the theme “Gen Z Pilgrims of Hope: For a Holistic and Sustainable World.”

The convention began with the Holy Eucharist and a cultural programme, setting a tone of unity and celebration. The participants engaged in study sessions, workshops, worship and adoration, cafeteria sessions, and group dynamics centred on topics such as “Faith in Action: Gen Z for a Hope-filled Future” and “Gen Z: Shaping a Sustainable and Inclusive Tomorrow.”

The event offered a meaningful platform for the student to reflect on their faith and its relevance in daily life. Delegates shared testimonies, participated in interactive discussions, and celebrated a cultural night that showcased the diversity and vitality of the region.

The event brought together twelve delegates from the Diocese of Agartala, guided by Fr. Derrick, Chaplain, and Ms. Sandhya Hrangkhawl, Lady Animator, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of faith and unity among the youth. Two delegates were selected for key leadership roles in the Regional Executive Council (REXCO) of YCS–YSM North East. Varmawi Hrangkhawl was elected as Regional Media Secretary, while Dominic Uchoi was nominated as a REXCO member.

The Agartala delegation expressed gratitude to Bishop Lumen Monteiro, CSC, for his encouragement and support, and thanked Fr. Derrick and Ms. Sandhya for their guidance throughout the convention. The delegates returned with renewed enthusiasm and a deeper commitment to live out the YCS–YSM vision by fostering hope, faith, and service in their communities.
