ICYM Nagpur Organises Formation Programme for New Minor Seminarians

Nagpur, July 3, 2026: ICYM Nagpur organised a three-day formation programme for newly admitted brothers of Ankur Kunj Diocesan Minor Seminary from June 29 to July 1, aiming to strengthen their spiritual, personal and vocational foundations as they begin seminary life.

Held under the theme, "Growing Together in Faith, Discipline, and Vocation," the programme focused on equipping the seminarians with the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and fraternal formation needed to embrace their journey towards the priesthood.

The initiative was conducted under the leadership of Archbishop Elias Gonsalves of Nagpur, with the guidance and support of Fr. Augustine Antony D'Silva, Diocesan Youth Director.

Through interactive sessions, guided reflections and group activities, participants were encouraged to face common challenges encountered during seminary formation, including distractions, digital addiction, discouragement and loneliness. The sessions emphasised the importance of building healthy friendships, supporting one another and remaining firmly rooted in Christ.

Discipline in prayer, study and ministry formed another key component of the programme. The seminarians reflected on the value of consistency and self-discipline in nurturing spiritual maturity, academic excellence and a lifelong commitment to service.

The programme also invited participants to deepen their understanding of vocation by discerning God's call, preparing for future challenges and embracing the grace needed to persevere with joy, courage and fidelity.

The three-day formation concluded with prayer and fellowship, as the new seminarians expressed renewed enthusiasm and commitment at the beginning of their vocational journey. Members of the seminary community welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful introduction to seminary life and an important step in nurturing future priests.

Through such formation initiatives, ICYM Nagpur continues to accompany young people in their faith journey while promoting leadership, discipline, fraternity and a deeper commitment to Christ and the mission of the Church.
