Patna, December 10, 2025 — A high-level Catholic delegation led by Archbishop Sebastian Kallupura of the Archdiocese of Patna met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to congratulate him on his renewed mandate and to convey the community’s goodwill for his continued leadership in the state. The delegation expressed its appreciation for the government’s ongoing developmental efforts and reaffirmed the Catholic community’s commitment to contributing to Bihar’s educational and social advancement.
Archbishop Kallupura was accompanied by senior clergy, educators, and prominent social leaders who represent some of Bihar’s most respected institutions. Among them were Vicar General Fr. James George; Dr. Martin Poras, Vice Chancellor of Xavier’s University, Patna; Fr. Satya Prakash, Secretary to the Archbishop; and leading women educationists such as Dr. M. Rashmi A.C., Principal of Patna Women’s College; Sr. Mary Vidhya SND of Hartmann Girls High School; Sr. Josephine CJ of St. Joseph’s Convent School; and Sr. Mary Neha SND of Notre Dame Academy. Loyola School Principal Br. Johnson V. George, Padma Shri awardee and Nari Gunjan founder Sudha Varghese, and social development professional Bella Das also formed part of the delegation.
The meeting underscored the long-standing partnership between the Catholic Church and the state in areas of education, empowerment, and social outreach. The delegation assured the Chief Minister of continued cooperation in building a more inclusive and progressive Bihar.
