Secunderabad, July 30, 2026: The Executive Body of the Catholic Council of India (CCI) has finalised proposed amendments to its statutes and initiated preparations for the organisation's 16th General Body Meeting, scheduled for February 2027.
The Executive Body met on July 30 at Jyotirmai Hall in the Telangana Catholic Bishops' Council Secretariat in Secunderabad, where eleven members deliberated on key organisational and administrative matters.
The meeting began with a prayer led by Benedict Mascarenas, followed by the felicitation of Anthony Cardinal Poola, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India and the Catholic Council of India, by CCI Vice Presidents Doctor Antose Antony and Peter K. Cherian, the Council's Treasurer. Cardinal Poola welcomed the members and delivered the inaugural address.
A key item on the agenda was the revision of the CCI Statutes. After detailed deliberations, the Executive Body approved the proposed amendments. The final draft of the revised statutes will be prepared by August 7 and circulated to all members for observations and suggestions before the amendments are taken forward for approval.
The Executive Body also reviewed recommendations emerging from the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India Standing Committee and discussed issues arising from its report.
Members examined preparations for the Catholic Council of India's 16th General Body Meeting, to be held during the first week of February 2027. They also discussed the proposed theme for the forthcoming General Body Meeting of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India, along with other organisational matters.
The meeting concluded with a prayer and final blessing. Members expressed appreciation to Cardinal Poola for his leadership and guidance and acknowledged the commitment of Executive Body members who travelled from different parts of the country to participate in the deliberations.
The gathering ended with a fellowship lunch following the closing prayer.
