Bethany Sisters Begin Ruby Jubilee Journey with Call to Renewed Commitment

Mangaluru, September 30, 2026: A day of spiritual renewal and reflection brought 74 Bethany Sisters together at Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla, as the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, Mangalore Province, continue preparations for their Ruby Jubilee.

The September 29 programme at Rosa Mystica Convent was the second of eight renewal programmes being organised across the Mangalore Province. Fr. Franklin D’Souza, a Catholic Charismatic preacher, led the day’s reflections.

The gathering focused on questions confronting religious life today and the need to return continually to the person of Jesus through Scripture, prayer and the Eucharist.

Using the account of the miraculous catch of fish in Luke 5:1–11, Fr. Franklin invited the Sisters to recognise the challenges facing consecrated life and rediscover their vocation through a deeper encounter with Christ.

The reflection continued during the Eucharistic celebration, where he drew from Mark 6:17–29 to encourage an honest examination of conscience and renewed fidelity to the mission entrusted to each Sister.

Forgiveness and reconciliation formed the focus of the afternoon reflection, based on Matthew 18:21–35 and 1 Corinthians 11:23–32. Fr. Franklin connected the call to forgive with worthy participation in the Eucharist and the witness expected of consecrated persons.

A period of healing and anointing adoration gave the Sisters an opportunity to bring their personal struggles and wounds to prayer.

The Sisters from Rosa Mystica Convent, Kinnikambla, Pompei Convent, Kowdur, Nazareth Convent, Bajpe, and St Joseph Convent, Subadha, participated in the programme.

The renewal initiative is part of the Bethany Sisters’ wider preparation for their Ruby Jubilee, creating opportunities across the Province to reflect on their journey, give thanks for the past and renew their commitment to their vocation and mission.
