Bangalore, Karnataka, May 23, 2026: The Archdiocese of Bangalore is set to host Pentecost Night Vigil 2026 on the night of May 23–24, inviting the faithful across the city to gather for an extended celebration of prayer, worship and spiritual renewal focused on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
The overnight vigil, organised by Bangalore Service of Communion, will begin at 9:30 pm on Saturday and continue until 5:00 am on Sunday. The programme will include praise and worship, reflection on the Word of God, Holy Mass, Eucharistic adoration and prayers for the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Fr. Dr. John Jose Vettiyankal VC will animate the spiritual sessions during the vigil, guiding participants through moments of prayer and reflection aimed at deepening their faith experience during the Pentecost celebration.
Senior church leaders, including Bishop Dr. Peter Machado, Bishop Dr. Joseph Susainathan and Bishop Dr. Arokiaraj Satis Kumar, are expected to take part in the event.
To accommodate worshippers from diverse linguistic communities, the vigil will be conducted simultaneously at multiple venues across the city. The English and Konkani gathering will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on Brigade Road, while the Kannada vigil will take place at St Joseph’s Boys High School on Museum Road. The Hindi-language programme will be hosted at St. Joseph’s PUC College, and the Tamil vigil will be conducted at Sacred Heart Church on Richmond Road.
Large numbers of faithful are expected to participate in the annual Pentecost observance, which has become a significant spiritual gathering in the archdiocese, fostering unity, prayer and renewal among believers from different communities and language groups.
