Youth Honour St. Carlo Acutis with Solemn Celebration in Mysore

Mysuru, September 16, 2025 – The Diocese of Mysore organised a special Youth Celebration in honour of St. Carlo Acutis, patron of youth and model of holiness in the digital age. Held at St. Philomena’s Shrine and St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Mysuru, the event gathered hundreds of young people from across the diocese for a vibrant day of prayer, inspiration, and unity.

The Holy Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration was led by Archbishop Bernard Moras of Mysore, who is also the Apostolic Administrator of the diocese. Mr. Maria Xavier, Diocesan Youth Director, introduced the life and spirituality of St. Carlo Acutis, urging the youth to embrace his love for the Eucharist and his missionary zeal in today’s world.

A Teen Saint as a Model for the Digital Age

In his homily, Archbishop Moras reflected on the inspiring witness of St. Carlo Acutis, who, though a teenager, lived with profound love for Christ and unwavering devotion to the Eucharist. He reminded the youth that holiness is not distant or unattainable, but possible when God is placed at the centre of daily life. Carlo’s example, the Archbishop stressed, shows that authentic discipleship can flourish even amid modern distractions and challenges.

Rediscovering the Centrality of the Eucharist

Archbishop Moras underlined the Eucharist as the “highway to heaven,” echoing the young saint’s words. He called on the youth of Mysore to rediscover Eucharistic devotion, cherish Sunday Mass, and nurture a deep friendship with Jesus in the sacrament of His Body and Blood. Through this, he said, they would gain courage to live faithfully as Christian witnesses in a world that often forgets God.

Called to Be Missionaries of Hope

The Archbishop also reminded the youth that, like St. Carlo, they are called to be missionaries of hope in their families, schools, and communities. He encouraged them to reject mediocrity, resist conformity, and instead live their Christian identity with integrity and joy. Holiness, he noted, is about doing ordinary things with extraordinary love.

A Memorable Spiritual Encounter

During the celebration, the relic of St. Carlo Acutis was solemnly unveiled and venerated, drawing fervent prayers from the faithful. The Mysore City Youth Choir animated the liturgy with melodious singing, lifting the hearts of the congregation in praise.

Hundreds of young people actively participated, transforming the day into a vibrant expression of youthful faith and unity. The celebration concluded with prayers of thanksgiving and blessings, leaving the youth of Mysore spiritually enriched and inspired to follow St. Carlo’s example of holiness.
