Word of God Central to Leadership, Say Sisters at Bethany Province Assembly in Bangalore

Bangalore, 15 February 2026 — Nearly 50 members of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany gathered for their Province Assembly from 14 to 15 February at the Bethany Provincilate, reflecting on Scripture as the foundation of spiritual leadership and mission.

Held under the theme “The Word of God guiding and shaping spiritual leaders,” the assembly brought together members of the Bangalore Province for prayer, discernment and renewal. The gathering was convened under the leadership of Provincial Superior Sr. Sahana BS, who urged participants to deepen their commitment to leadership inspired by Scripture and rooted in faith.

The opening day’s sessions were led by Sr. Margarita Dias SCB, Associate Director of Communio, who facilitated interactive reflections through group discussions, prayer and experiential inputs. Drawing on her missionary experience, she emphasised that engagement with Scripture must go beyond intellectual understanding to shape attitudes, decisions and pastoral practice.

Participants reflected on the Word of God as a living source of guidance and discernment in ministry. The sessions encouraged leaders to revisit their personal and communal journeys, acknowledge challenges in service, and rediscover Scripture as a wellspring of strength and clarity.

Sr. Margarita also shared insights into her work with Communio and outlined initiatives of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India, situating the congregation’s leadership within the broader mission of the Church in India.

On 15 February, discussions turned to the role of education in the congregation’s apostolate, with speakers highlighting its importance in shaping young people according to Gospel values. The assembly concluded with the celebration of Golden and Silver Jubilees of members, honouring decades of religious commitment and service.

The gathering ended with a renewed resolve among participants to place the Word of God at the centre of leadership and mission as they return to their communities.
