Women’s Commission Hosts Jubilee Year Retreat in Gulbarga

Gulbarga, August 11, 2025 — As part of the Synodal Jubilee Year 2025 celebrations, the Commission for Women of Gulbarga Deanery organised a one-day Women’s Retreat focused on the spiritual renewal and empowerment of women. The grace-filled gathering drew around 80 participants from across the Deanery.

The retreat brought together women in a spirit of prayer, reflection, and fellowship, creating a deeply enriching encounter with the Lord. Sr. Maria Reetha AC, Secretary of the Women’s Commission, Diocese of Gulbarga, extended a heartfelt welcome, setting the tone for a day rooted in faith and unity.

Fr. Vincent Pereira led a profound time of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, guiding the assembly into an atmosphere of reverence. He also spoke on Women in the Mission of the Church, urging participants to recognise and embrace their vital role in the life of the Church. Fr. Gerald Sagar offered an illuminating reflection on Women in the Bible, drawing lessons of courage, service, and steadfast faith.

A spirit of communion deepened as the women spent time in fellowship, strengthened by meaningful conversations and mutual encouragement. The priests of the Deanery administered the Sacrament of Reconciliation, while the choir—accompanied by the gentle music of Fr. Aron Vas—led hymns of adoration, elevating the prayerful atmosphere.

The retreat culminated in the Eucharistic Celebration, with Fr. Stany Lobo as principal celebrant and four priests concelebrating. The women’s active participation in the liturgy reflected their renewed commitment to live their faith with devotion and purpose.

Fr. Joseph Praveen, Dean of Gulbarga Deanery, expressed deep gratitude to all who contributed to the retreat’s success, commending the dedication and cooperation of the participants. Sr. Reetha also acknowledged the meticulous planning and generosity of Fr. Praveen, as well as the support of the women’s cell animators and priests of the Deanery whose encouragement enriched the experience.

Prayerful support from the Bishop and the dedicated service of priests and religious sisters made the Women’s Retreat a moment of grace and renewal—deepening faith, inspiring mission, and strengthening fellowship within the Gulbarga Deanery.
