Vatican Revamps Website Since 1990s, Adds Online Forms for Papal Registrations

Vatican, 28 May 2025: The Vatican’s official website has undergone its first major redesign since its launch in the 1990s, now prominently displaying multimedia content and providing direct online access to various Vatican departments and ministries.

A banner image of Pope Leo XIV waving against a plain light blue background now spans the top half of the redesigned Holy See homepage, which went live earlier this week.

The updated site replaces the outdated dropdown mega menus with a prominent, clickable “Magisterium” button, which includes an icon of the pope’s new coat of arms. This feature enables users to access papal homilies, speeches, and other Vatican-related information more easily.

The process of obtaining tickets for papal audiences and liturgical celebrations has also been streamlined. Earlier this year, the Prefecture of the Papal Household — one of four Vatican offices now highlighted on https://www.vatican.va/content/vatican/en.html — introduced a new site with digital registration forms for individuals and pilgrimage groups.

The three other featured ministries on the redesigned site include Peter’s Pence, the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, and the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025.

The homepage now offers daily news and calendar events related to Pope Leo XIV and the Vatican in nine languages: Arabic, English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Latin, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Users can also access key Church resources from the homepage, including the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, codes of canon law, documents from ecumenical councils, Catholic social teaching, and reports detailing the Church’s efforts in addressing the abuse of minors.
