TURA, Meghalaya, October 19, 2026: Around 70 Touring Sisters took part in a six-day formation programme organised by the Diocese of Tura at the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Walbakgre, from October 12 to 17, focusing on spiritual development, pastoral learning and community service.
Bishop Andrew R. Marak of Tura inaugurated the programme and celebrated the concluding Mass.
Resource persons led sessions aimed at enhancing the participants’ spiritual formation, knowledge and pastoral skills.
A key session focused on Magnifica Humanitas, an encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, and was led by chief animator and resource person Fr Thomas Manjaly. Several priests and religious joined the sisters for the discussion, which provided an opportunity to examine the document and exchange views.
Another session addressed Maternal and Early Childhood Development (MECDM), with the participation of nurse sisters. Organised in collaboration with BAKDIL under the guidance of its director, Fr Binoy Joseph, the session highlighted the importance of maternal care and early childhood development.
The programme also included visits to the Ganol River hydroelectric power generation site and the Wangala cultural site. The visits exposed participants to local development initiatives and cultural heritage while providing opportunities for interaction and fellowship.
The six-day programme concluded with an emphasis on applying the learning to the sisters’ religious vocation and pastoral responsibilities, particularly in serving communities across the diocese.
