Ghaziabad, May 7, 2026: False allegations of religious conversion levelled against St. Teresa Academy in Modi Nagar, Ghaziabad, U.P., came to a close after a teacher withdrew her accusations against the school management, while police stated that no evidence supporting the claims had been found.
The issue had surfaced earlier this week when a Physical Training (PT) teacher alleged that she had been pressured to convert her religion and remove religious symbols. The allegations triggered protests outside the school premises, with members of Hindu groups gathering at the entrance and staging demonstrations.
However, school authorities had maintained from the beginning that the matter stemmed from long-standing disciplinary concerns involving the teacher and had no connection to religion or conversion activities.
According to the school management, the teacher had been facing repeated disciplinary issues related to conduct, behaviour with students and colleagues, and internal disputes within the institution before the allegations surfaced publicly.
The teacher later stepped back from the allegations and informed authorities that she no longer had any complaint against the institution. According to reports, she stated that discussions with family members and local authorities influenced her decision.
Police officials, after conducting a preliminary inquiry, reportedly found no indication of religious conversion activities linked to the school. Authorities said no evidence had emerged against the institution during the investigation, following which no action was initiated.
The school management had earlier denied all allegations and stated that the issue was being wrongly given a religious angle despite being an internal disciplinary matter.
Principal Sr. Lourd stated that the institution respects all religions and observes festivals of different faiths with equal regard.
