May 7, 2026: May is more than just a month of Marian prayers and flowers — it is an invitation for you to walk closely with Mother Mary through acts of prayer, kindness, intercession, and daily faith. Here are a few thoughtful ways you can honour her during this special month.
1. Imitate Mary’s Visit to Elizabeth
After the Annunciation, Mary immediately went to help Elizabeth. You can imitate her by intentionally visiting at least one person in need this month — an elderly neighbour, a sick relative, someone grieving, or a person who may simply feel lonely. Even a small visit or phone call can become a Marian act of love.
2. Become an Intercessor Like Mary at Cana
At Cana, Mary noticed the needs of others and brought them to Jesus. This month, make a small list of people and intentions to intercede for daily — friends struggling with exams, families facing difficulties, someone searching for work, or people who have asked for prayers. Pray for them intentionally through Mary’s intercession.
3. Honour Your Earthly Mother
Jesus honoured His mother, and you are called to do the same. Spend intentional time with your mother this month, pray for her daily, thank her for specific sacrifices she has made, or reconnect if distance or misunderstandings have grown between you.
4. Begin a Marian Devotion
May is a beautiful time to grow closer to Mary through specific Marian devotions. You can begin praying rosaries to Our Lady of Sorrows, Our Lady Undoer of Knots, or the Seven Joys Rosary. Choose one devotion for the month and spend at least five minutes daily praying through it or learning about it.
5. Start Wearing the Miraculous Medal
Wearing the Miraculous Medal is a simple yet powerful expression of Marian devotion. It can remind you throughout the day to turn to Mary in prayer. You can also make it a habit to say a short Marian prayer whenever you touch or notice the medal.
6. Pray Together Like Mary and the Apostles
After Jesus’ Ascension, Mary remained in prayer with the Apostles as they awaited the coming of the Holy Spirit. You can honour her this month by making an effort to pray together with others — as a family, with friends, or within your parish community. Even setting aside one evening for shared prayer can help strengthen faith, unity, and spiritual support within your home or community.
7. Create a Marian Space at Home
Set up a small Marian prayer corner with flowers, candles, a Rosary, or an image of Mother Mary. Try gathering there for even five minutes each evening as a family for prayer, reflection, or a simple Hail Mary together.
8. Read About Marian Apparitions and Saints
Learning about apparitions such as Our Lady of Lourdes or the lives of Marian saints can deepen your faith. You can choose one apparition or saint each week and reflect on one lesson from their life that you can apply practically.
9. Practice Silence and Surrender
Mary often trusted God quietly, even without fully understanding His plans. You can honour her this month by spending a few minutes in silence daily, surrendering one worry or fear to God instead of carrying it alone.
10. Pray the Rosary With Greater Intention
Instead of praying the Rosary mechanically, dedicate each decade to a different intention — priests, youth, families, the sick, or those struggling in faith. You can also invite friends or family members to send intentions and pray for them throughout May.
