HYDERABAD, July 13, 2026: Young Catholics of Suraram Parish gathered at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Karunagiri Shrine, on July 12 for a Telugu Catholic Youth Movement (TCYM) Youth Gathering that encouraged participants to deepen their faith, strengthen their leadership skills and play an active role in the life and mission of the Church.
The programme was led by Fr. Medi Sleevaraj, SDB, Regional Youth Secretary of the Telangana Catholic Bishops' Conference (TCBC) Commission for Youth, in the presence of Fr. Yeruva Joji Reddy, Parish Priest, Fr. Vidya Sagar, Assistant Parish Priest, and representatives of the TCBC Commission for Youth.
The gathering began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which Fr. Medi Sleevaraj called on young people to remain firmly rooted in Christ through prayer and to use their gifts and talents in the service of the Church and society. He encouraged them to become credible witnesses to the Gospel by living their faith with commitment and enthusiasm.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, participants spent time in Eucharistic Adoration, offering personal intentions through silent prayer, praise and worship in an atmosphere of reflection and spiritual renewal.
An interactive formation session focused on youth leadership, faith formation and active participation in parish life. Facilitated by Fr. Medi Sleevaraj and representatives of the TCBC Commission for Youth, the session encouraged participants to reflect on their role in building vibrant and faith-filled parish communities.
During the programme, Harry Joshua invited the young people to strengthen their Christian values, cultivate leadership qualities and work together in fostering a dynamic youth movement. Participants also shared their experiences and ideas during group discussions, highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing young Catholics today.
A highlight of the gathering was the unveiling of the JWALA 2027 poster by the clergy and representatives of the TCBC Commission for Youth. The regional youth event, scheduled to be held in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, in January 2027, was presented as an important opportunity for young Catholics across the region to come together for faith formation, fellowship and missionary commitment.
The launch of the poster marked the beginning of the promotional campaign for the event and encouraged parish youth to participate actively in the regional gathering.
The TCYM Youth Gathering concluded with a renewed commitment among participants to grow in faith, embrace leadership responsibilities and contribute more actively to the evangelising mission of the Church through prayer, service and witness.
